Biography
I am Yi (Jason) Hua, a postdoctoral fellow in the Laboratory of Ocular Biomechanics at the University of Pittsburgh with Dr. Ian A. Sigal.
My research focuses on using a combination of imaging and modeling tools to study the role of biomechanics in central nervous system disorders, such as glaucoma and traumatic brain injury.
My current research projects aim to quantify blood flow and oxygenation in the optic nerve head at the back of the eye. Based on the preliminary data collected, I wrote an application to BrightFocus Foundation for a postdoctoral fellowship. Following a very competitive review process, my proposal titled “Hemodynamics and biomechanics of the monkey lamina cribrosa” was enthusiastically received by reviewers and was funded $150K for two years (from July 2021 to June 2023).
Research Interests
